NORFOLK - The FranklinCovey and Timberland stores in MacArthur Center, which both arrived when the downtown mall opened about seven years ago and have no other locations in Hampton Roads locations, closed this month.

Timberland, which sold its own brand of shoes, clothing and accessories for outdoor recreation, closed Sunday, said Karen Winters, marketing director for MacArthur Center. The retailer has an outlet store in Williamsburg.

FranklinCovey, which sold day planners, binders and organizers, closed March 6. Customers received cards in the mail directing them to the company's Web site or its nearest store, in Glen Allen.

The two shuttered shops join White House/Black Market, a women's boutique that closed its MacArthur location in late February.
