Amy Jeter covers health care and hospitals.
She came to The Pilot in 2000, and has covered business, education and social services in Chesapeake, as well as police, fire, courts and the sheriff’s office in Portsmouth. Before joining the business team, she covered Norfolk schools and K-12 education issues. Previously, she worked for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
She graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. In 1999, she received a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland.
She was born in Lexington, Va., and grew up in Albuquerque, N.M. She has run two marathons and three half-marathons (which does not make another whole, but should).
