Amy Jeter covers Norfolk schools and K-12 education issues.
She came to The Pilot in 2000, and has covered business, education and social services in Chesapeake, as well as police, fire, courts and the sheriff’s office in Portsmouth. Before the Pilot, she worked for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Her work has been recognized by the Virginia Bar Association and the Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals.
She graduated from Rice University in Houston, Texas, in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science. In 1999, she received a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland.
She was born in Lexington, Va., and grew up in Albuquerque, N.M. She has run two marathons and three half-marathons (which does not make another whole, but should).
