Bob arrived at The Ledger-Star in 1976 as a member of the sports department. After covering preps and colleges, he began writing a column more than 20 years ago.
A native of Baltimore, Md., he graduated from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in 1973 with a degree in history and took his first newspaper job in Cambridge, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
With The Pilot, he has had the opportunity to travel to the Summer Olympics on three occasions, and to numerous national events such as the Super Bowl, World Series and Final Four.
Bob met his wife, Janet, at the newspaper, where she was a reporter. They have three daughters and live in Norfolk.
