Dale Eisman is The Pilot's Washington correspondent, covering the Pentagon and the Hampton Roads congressional delegation.

He joined the newspaper in 1987 as state editor, managing the Richmond bureau.

A native of Louisville, Ky., and a graduate of Indiana University, Eisman covered state and federal courts and Virginia politics for the Richmond Times-Dispatch for almost 14 years before joining The Pilot.

Dale and his wife, Ellen, a physical education teacher in Fairfax County, live in Springfield.
