Darrell is an editorial assistant and part of the high school sports staff. His main duties include taking phone calls and compiling local sports results, high school, college and others. Darrell also writes many roundups and summaries on these events.

Darrell currently covers football and private school boys soccer in the fall and boys soccer and private school lacrosse in the spring.

Darrell also is The Pilot’s fantasy baseball blogger.

Darrell has been with The Virginian-Pilot since August 2004. Prior to this, he covered high school football and basketball for one year as a correspondent for The Pilot. Darrell graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College with a degree in journalism in May 2007.
