Donald Luzzatto is the editorial page editor for The Virginian-Pilot. He is responsible for some of the paper's commentary on national issues, transportation and the environment, and covers the cities of Norfolk and Suffolk.

In 2000, he came to The Pilot from The Suffolk News-Herald, one more stop in an itinerant newspaper career that began in Virginia, proceeded to Pennsylvania, then Florida, then Japan, and finally circled back to the commonwealth.

Before arriving on The Pilot’s editorial board, he was the paper’s city editor in Suffolk, and an editor on the metro desk.

He was raised in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C., and attended both public and parochial schools before he was accidentally accepted at the College of William and Mary. He is married to the writer Caroline Luzzatto. The Luzzattos, and their three children, live in an old farmhouse in Suffolk.
