Donald Luzzatto writes editorials for The Virginian-Pilot. He is responsible for most of the paper’s commentary on Virginia Beach and Suffolk, transportation and the environment.

Donald came to The Pilot from The Suffolk News-Herald, the final stop in an itinerant newspaper career that began in Virginia, proceeded to Pennsylvania, then Florida, then Japan, and finally circled back to the commonwealth. Before arriving on The Pilot’s editorial board, he was the paper’s city editor in Suffolk, and an editor on the metro desk.

He was raised in the Maryland suburbs, and attended both public and parochial schools before he was accidentally accepted at William and Mary. He is married to the writer Caroline Luzzatto. The Luzzattos, and their three children, live in an old farmhouse in Suffolk.
