Jim Washington is a breaking news reporter on the Online News Desk for The Virginian-Pilot and PilotOnline.

Jim Washington has been at The Virginian Pilot for four years and has written everything from crime stories to concert reviews to his new beat covering breaking news for online. He graduated from Averett College (now University) in Danville, Va. 1991 and worked at the Danville Register & Bee as a feature writer from 1991 to 1996, when he moved to the Fayetteville (N.C.) Observer. There he wrote about music and popular culture for the Weekender magazine. His wife, Michelle, covers the Norfolk courts beat at the Pilot.
