John Hopkins is the Chesapeake court reporter for The Virginian-Pilot.

The Portsmouth native has worked for several newspapers since 1987, including Worcester County Newspapers in Massachusetts, The Huntington Herald-Dispatch in West Virginia and The Cincinnati Enquirer in Ohio. Hopkins joined The Virginian-Pilot in 1999 after working for nine years as a journalist in Cincinnati, covering federal and state courts, police and minority issues.
