Matthew Roy is an assistant Norfolk and Portsmouth Team leader and also edits the Compass.
Matt spent a good deal of his career covering public safety issues. He got his start in newspaper reporting in 1990 covering legal matters, cattle rustling and escapd lunatics in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. A gig in Schenectady, NY followed.
He came to the Pilot in 2001, and covered public safety beats until becoming an editor in 2008.
Matt's work has been recognized for depth reporting, breaking news coverage, feature writing and public service.
