Mike Saewitz covers city government in Chesapeake.

Mike Saewitz arrived at The Pilot in March 2007. Before that, he worked for more than four years at the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune, where he covered Sarasota City Hall and cops and courts. In Sarasota, Mike wrote about the abduction and murder of 11-year-old Carlie Brucia. He also reported on purchasing abuses at the city-run Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Mike graduated in 2002 from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. He grew up in a nearby Chicago suburb called Deerfield. Before graduating, Mike was an intern at The Pilot, the New Haven Register, and the St. Petersburg Times.
