Nancy Young covers medical and health issues for The Virginian-Pilot.

Nancy has worked at The Virginian-Pilot since 1997. Before becoming one of the paper’s health reporters, she served as night metro editor and as a reporter who covered Chesapeake schools and state education issues.

Young grew up in Binghamton, N.Y., and graduated from Cornell University in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in English and psychology. She was a special education teacher for four years before joining the graduate writing program at the University of New Hampshire, where she received a master’s degree in English. She has been a journalist since 1995, first working as a reporter for The Nashua Telegraph in New Hampshire.
