Philip Walzer covers business.
He has received the American Association of University Professors’ Award for Excellence in Coverage of Higher Education, as well as two fellowships from the Education Writers Association to write about historically black colleges and home schooling. Phil also has co-won awards from the Virginia Press Association.
Phil grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., and received his bachelor’s degree in English from Princeton University. He previously worked at the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Buffalo Courier-Express, the Bond Buyer and the American Banker. He is married and has two children in the Norfolk public school system.
