Rich Radford has been a staff writer at The Virginian-Pilot since 1987 and is a multiple Virginia Press Association award winner. He has held a variety of beats, ranging from high schools to the pros. His primary beats are Old Dominion football, Norfolk State men's basketball, and pro and amateur golf.
Rich, 48, came to The Pilot after two years at The Daily Press in Newport News. He began professionally as an intern at The Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Married for 22 years, Rich and his wife, Laurie, live in Norfolk and have two sons, Kevin, 18, and Alex, 16.
Rich was the first scholarship golfer at Virginia Commonwealth University and was named VCU's Outstanding Graduate in Journalism in 1985. He is a Richmond native and attended Meadowbrook High School.
