Rich Radford has been a staff writer at The Virginian-Pilot since 1987 and has held a variety of beats, ranging from high schools to the pros. His primary beats are Old Dominion football and pro and amateur golf.

Rich, 45, came to The Pilot after two years at The Daily Press in Newport News. He began professionally as an intern at The Richmond Times-Dispatch.

Married for 19 years, Rich and his wife, Laurie, live in Norfolk and have two sons, Kevin, 15, and Alex, 12. In his spare time, Rich enjoys coaching youth baseball and playing tennis.

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Rich was the first scholarship golfer at VCU and was named Outstanding Graduate in Journalism in 1985. He is a Richmond native and attended Meadowbrook High School.
