Richard Quinn covers Virginia Beach City Hall, specifically issues that relate to economic development, taxes and the Oceanfront.

Before joining The Pilot in August 2006, Richard worked for more than three years as a staff writer at the Asbury Park Press (N.J.) where he was a municipal reporter. He also won several national awards for his contributions to Profiting from Public Service, a week-long series that detailed how New Jersey state legislators used and abused their positions for personal gain. Before that, he worked at two other daily newspapers in New Jersey, where his coverage included the federal prison system and the murder case against former NBA star Jayson Williams.

He graduated from Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in professional writing. He has won national awards and several honors from the New Jersey Press Association.
