As events coordinator in the Features Department, Roy Bahls keeps track of entertainment events and area festivals for Thursday’s and Sunday’s Daily Break. He also writes occasional general assignment stories.

Roy's 30-year career with The Virginian-Pilot has sent him high above Suffolk’s freshly tilled fields in a hot air balloon, down a runway at over 300 mph in a jet truck and into interviews with celebrities. He has delved into Hampton Roads’ history, examined the Electoral College process for the editorial page, dug into the seemingly endless list of local, state and federal taxes and revealed the fine art of pumpkin picking.

Roy graduated from Old Dominion University with a B.A. in English in 1976 and has lived in Virginia Beach since 1971.

He received the Virginian-Pilot accuracy award in 2000.
