Bacteria find at Suffolk school leads to new water system

Posted to: Education News Suffolk

Suffolk

A permanent water chlorination system is being installed at The Pruden Center for Industry and Technology after fecal coliform bacteria was detected in the water.

The school is required to regularly test the water because it comes from an on-site well.

The system cost $1,450. Chlorine will be flushed through the well during the winter break.

Once water samples show there is no bacteria in the well water, school officials will turn the water back on. Until then, the school will continue to supply bottled water.
