A space heater caused an early morning fire Sunday, destroying a mobile home .
The home, at the Providence Mobile Home Park on the border of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach, caught fire at 3:30 a.m., Chesapeake Fire Department spokesman Capt. Steve Johnson said. It burned for 10 to 12 minutes, completely destroying the trailer.
The two residents were not home at the time and are now staying with friends and family, Johnson said.
“Please be careful with space heaters and keep them 36 inches from anything that will burn,” Johnson said. “Don’t leave them unattended.”
