Merry birthday? It's that time of year for one family

Pat Parker's first daughter, Pam, was born on Dec. 23, 1962.

Then Pam, 21 years later, had her first daughter, Crystal, on Dec. 22.

Then Crystal, 21 years later, had her first daughter, Raegan, on Dec. 21.

"March is the month," Parker said, with a laugh. "Beware of the Ides of March."

Crystal's second daughter was born on Dec. 30. Pat's other two daughters had sons on a Dec. 13 and Dec. 17; the daughters have a half sister with a Dec. 20 birth date. Parker has nieces born Dec. 9 and 29, and a son-in-law who will celebrate his 40th on the 23rd. (No, it was not a requirement for marrying into the family).

Crystal Butts gets quizzical looks when she describes the birthday staircase. She's been asked a couple of times whether the timing of the pregnancies was planned (They were not). Once, when Parker bought birthday cards for the month, someone asked if she was buying for the year.

It all makes for a busy season that Parker wouldn't trade for anything. A Christmas pile and a birthday gift pile to maintain, each birthday present wrapped specifically in birthday wrap.

She threw a colossal party Sunday with birthday napkins, cups, balloons and a cake wide enough to include every December baby's name - and a January straggler whose date is close enough.

My Mother and I are both December babies

I'm December 16, my 11 yr old niece is also December 16 and my Mom is December 28. We all get screwed out of birthday presents because we are too close to Christmas. We are all also the products of St. Patrick's day parties attended by our parents--I'm 9 months from the party to the day!

Whew!

Most of my family has birthdays around Thanksgiving.

I feel for you. I think that means you are all very special to have a birthday around the same thing!

Merry Christmas!

I know

A friend of mine family from high school, there were 5 kids with their birthdays Dec 24th, 25th, and 26th and they would celebrate their birthdays on the youngest sister's birthday, Dec 25th. Also my sister's birthday is Dec 30th. I am glad mine is not around Christmas as I feel you lose out with your birthday at or near Christmas. Any way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL whose birthday is this time of the year.

Christmas and Birthdays

My birthday is December 31 and growing up my parents always made sure my day was a special day. The Christmas tree and decorations were put away by Dec 29 each year and even as I got older my birthday has always been kept separate from Christmas. One of the best perks of having Christmas and a Birthday close together that on one year my big presents were combined and I recieved my first pony. Christmas and Birthdays close together can be fun as long as the family makes sure both days are celebrated as separate special days.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO EVERYONE BORN LATE DECEMBER AND EARLY JAN!
