VIRGINIA BEACH
Football star Plaxico Burress has paid his delinquent real estate tax bill.
Burress, a wide receiver who grew up in Virginia Beach and plays for the New York Giants, owns a house on Litchfield Way, near Kellam High School. He had not paid the city real estate tax on the house for two years.
As a result, the delinquent tax bill was $14,471, including interest and penalties. The house is assessed at $594,000.
City Treasurer John T. Atkinson said Burress' check arrived Thursday.
Burress' wife, Tiffany, said she and her husband were not aware of the unpaid tax until they were contacted by The Virginian-Pilot two weeks ago. She said they never received the tax bill.
The city treasurer's office sent the tax bills twice a year to a home Burress owns in Florida. During the football season, Tiffany Burress said, she and her husband live in New Jersey.

Well....
At least you were as quick to note that they paid the taxes as quick as you were to report that they didn't. Note to Burress: Get an assistant to take care of those things dummy!
