Bob McCabe is an enterprise reporter on the Suburban Team, focusing on in-depth stories as well as occasional breaking news.

Bob has worked as a member of The Pilot’s investigative team and as a City Hall reporter since first coming to Chesapeake in 2000. Elsewhere, he has worked as a reporter and copy editor at the Lawrence (Mass.) Eagle-Tribune and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale.

In previous incarnations, he taught English at McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, N.Y., and did a brief stint as a social worker in San Jose, Calif. He once moonlighted as a drummer in a rock band.

The oldest of eight kids, he grew up in a station wagon in the '50s and '60s, moving from Detroit to Connecticut to Chicago to a small town in upstate New York.

Bob has a B.A. in English and philosophy from Fordham University; an M.A. in Humanities from the State University of New York at Buffalo; and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Missouri.

He and his family live in Chesapeake.
