Ex-high school band director in NC charged with taking indecent liberties with student

The former band director at Currituck County High School in North Carolina was charged Friday night with taking indecent liberties with a 17-year-old female student.

Allan Matthew Coyle, 32, was charged Friday night with six counts of a sex offense with a student, and six counts of indecent liberties with a student, according to a news release from Currituck County Sheriff Susan Johnson. Coyle resigned from his position at the school on Thursday.

Coyle, of the 100 block of Copeland Drive in Moyock, was released from jail on a $240,000 bond, according to the release.

The parents of the girl made a complaint against Coyle, the release says.
