Soldier from Northern Virginia killed in Iraq

A Northern Virginia man was one of three soldiers killed in combat in Iraq on Wednesday, the Pentagon said Thursday.

They died of wounds suffered when they were attacked by grenade and small arms fire, the Pentagon said. No further details were released.

Killed were Pfc. David H. Sharrett II, 27, of Oakton, Va., who died in Pallouata, Iraq, and Pfc. Danny L. Kimme, 27, of Fisher, Ill., and Spc. John P. Sigsbee, 21, of Waterville, N.Y., who both died in Balad, Iraq.

They were assigned to the 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, based at Fort Campbell, Ky.
