Sparkling Diversity

Archie Whitehill, a Norfolk resident since 1977, takes a look at people some may consider to be living “outside the norm,” and the issues that affect them.

Who'd 'A Thunk It?

Obama, Oh Mama!  Whooee, Huckabee!

It does my heart good to see that the wise ones of Iowa have seen through the dust and clog of highly organized campaigns, well-financed campaigns and voted for those they feel actually mean what they say.

Now, don't misunderstand me here.  I am a staunch Ron Paul Supporter, who is doing quite well himself, by the way, but Clinton, Giulliano, Romney and the same old, same old gang came out in the rear this time.  May this be the start of a beautiful political trend of voters actually listening to what the candidates say, investigate what they stand for and then vote according to that research rather than for disingenuous and distorted sound bites.

In the comments, tell us about your candidate and how you think he, or she, is doing.  Play Pat Ropbertson's prophetic role for a moment and tell us how you think political things will look beginning the second week of November, 2008.

Ron Paul

I too am staunch Ron Paul supporter. Rep. Paul at the very least has read The Constitution and has a lot more respect for it than any of the rest of the current candidates running. Little things like congress has the power to DECLARE war, limited government, the power of states to make their own laws without a "mother may I pass" from Washington (aka federalism). How refreshing it would be to have the next president to really preserve, protect, and defend The Constitution of the United States, rather than when this document supports their argument. I have decided that I will vote for Rep. Paul whether or not he is the nominee, and regardless of how my vote will effect the electorial college. I will let the chips fall where they may. There needs to be more voices and more choices.

Major Props To Archie

This is off-Topic.

I know that Archie is no fan of City Manager Regina Williams.

Nevertheless, his was the first name to appear, offering his condolences on the passing of her husband.

That is the true mark of a gentleman ... to disagree "vigorously" over politics, but never to let that spill over into family. Family trumps politics every time.
