Hamlin wins 2nd qualifying race

Denny Hamlin won the second qualifying race Thursday at Daytona. Dale Jarrett and John Andretti each raced their way into the Daytona 500. Andretti made it with a last-lap pass.

Tony Stewart placed second with Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne and Mark Martin completing the top five.

Also, Jeff Andrews, head engine builder for Hendrick Motorsports, said that the race engines for Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Casey Mears were taken back to the race shop on Wednesday night to be rebuilt. The team found lifter problems on Wednesday. Andrews said the engines should return to Daytona on Friday to be installed in time for the 500.
