NORFOLK
Police chased down and arrested a man suspected of abducting a woman from the parking lot of a school Monday night.
The woman was not injured, and police did not release her identity.
She was walking out of a meeting at Ruffner Middle School in the 600 block of May Avenue about 8 p.m., according to police, when a man forced her into her car, got in and made her drive away.
About 15 minutes later, officers spotted her car near Norfolk State University, and when the driver tried to elude them, pursued the vehicle.
The car crashed at Virginia Beach Boulevard and Cecelia Street. Police said the man got out of the car and ran, but was caught after a brief pursuit.
Police are investigating the incident and charges are pending, according to police spokesman Officer Chris Amos.
