1 question for gun haters
If wer'e in public, say Norfolk where shootings daily occur and yes I live, and some crimninal wants to shoot you unarmed "innocent" citizen and/or your family in front of me, should I...?
A) respect your right to not carry a gun and look the other way
B) call 911 for the under staffed NPD and hope they get there in time
C) remind you that you should have been prepared by making peace w/
Jesus (which you should have)
D) pull out my legally owned concealed weapon and fire on target just
like I am trained to do, even without being police or military
firearm common sense
as long as our legislature ,sees fit to allow u and I to purchase firearms gun control is really just hitting your target , it is leagal for anyone to purchase a firearm , within the letter of the law , gun control sould be about what types of firearms are available to the public , why does a consumer need a rifle that shoots 5oo yards or a handgun that holds 15 rounds , or semi auto , serious gun owners should only need one shot to protect them selves , gun control should be about what type of firearms , and who they are being sold to , firearm education , If your gona sell guns , they will eventually be shot , and as long as they are legal to purchase , they will be miss used ,
Many of the questions in
Many of the questions in this pole exhibit some level of ignorance. Why would you use a specific firearm unless the intent is to solicit a negative emotional response? In one question you ask about the legal age to purchase a handgun. Very generic and appropriate. Then, the very next question targets a specific type and style of rifle.
It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that the use of such wording is highly manipulative and an attempt to bias the reader. And what is the relevance of how many legislators in Hampton Roads have concealed permits? Just how is that a quiz on gun laws? Again, a targeted question that can be used to bias the audience.
State of the gun
Personally, I think its time to require background checks for those buying Illegal Drugs..Liberals need to take ownership and responsibility for their failed policies and laws then be judged by the "results" instead of their "intent"..There is not one Country, State, or City that has lower crime rates because of gun control, and you don't have to be a Rocket Scientist to figure it out, just read these Newspspers and watch evening news, have they ever been able to say that because of "gun control" or bans ect. "Such and Such" has a lower crime rate? If it was true we would hear about it Mourn, Noon and Nite!!!Gun deaths maybe lower, but not overall crime rates. Myth's are dangerous, myths about guns are very dangerous because they lead to bad laws and bad laws can kill people..
False Question
One of you questions asks "How old do you have to be to purchase an AK-47 in Virginia?" The "correct" answer according to your quiz is 18.
This is incorrect. The AK-47 is capable of automatic fire...i.e. a "machine gun"...and, therefore, falls under the auspices of the National Firearms Act and The Gun Control Act.
What your question SHOULD have said is "How old do you have to be to purchase a semi-automatic rifle that looks similar to the AK-47?" Or, even better "How old do you have to be to purchase a rifle?". I do realize that the more correct questions don't stimulate the desired level of fear and hysteria...but...silly me...I always thought journalism was about INFORMING, not about propagandizing.
You've already skewed your data Pilot
If you wish to take a poll, survey, opinion, try titling it something other than "STATE OF THE GUN". Here's a suggestion: "Firearms Survey" or "Gun Survey" or even "Gun Poll". From the big brother censorship on the Comments forums to garbage like this, it's not much wonder why readers have to take virtually ALL of the Pilot's stories with a grain of salt.
To find the real story, we're often left looking in multiple sources. Back to this one though: If the Pilot's slant team can't come up with a more neutral title, why offer the quiz anyway? You're not going to get credible data, so wouldn't that just be an exercise in wasted time? I mean really, if you're going to put an ominous tone on it from the outset with a title like "State of the Gun", you've already influenced the answers to the quiz/survey/poll.... whatever you wish to call it.
