Thief steals Hampton Del. Tom Gear's car

Posted to: General Assembly Hampton News

The thief stole the politician's car. It wasn't hard. The doors were unlocked and the keys were in the cup holder.

It happened before dawn Monday, a few hours before Del. Tom Gear was to leave his house in Hampton for the drive back to Richmond for the General Assembly session.

His wife discovered that the green Ford Explorer with House of Delegates plates was missing when she went outside to get the newspaper.

She also saw that the thief had left something behind.

Gear called his aide, whom he was going to have pick him up for the ride to the Capitol.

"I said, 'It's going to be a cold ride to Richmond. Someone stole my car and left a bike.' "

One question...

who cares?

Oops!

Dang, I left my bike?!

How hard is it

to find a car with House of Delegates plates?

I'm sorry that his vehicle

I'm sorry that his vehicle was stolen, but I chuckled when I read this story. I guess anytime a politician's the victim of crime, it's WWIII. Maybe he'll think about that during the GA sessions when it comes to passing legislature to combat crime. And by the way, who leaves their car doors unlocked with the keys inside? Sounds like someone needs to get back in touch with reality.

Police, look at Art Collins, Mike Townes, & Paul Fraim's houses

Hum, could the pro-light rail, pro-bike, pro-HRTA, and pro-Hampton Roads Partnership business lobby be behind this recent theft? Why not? They are on a fanatical crusade to take everyone's cars away and force all of us "masses" to rise bikes and massively expensive light rail and feeder buses. The General Assembly, the HRTA, the HRPDC, the MPO, the HRACRE, the TDCHR, the Virginia Port Authority, the Virginia Pilot, and the Hampton Roads Partnership/Chambers of Commerce are all working working overtime to steal more of our incomes in the form of endless new taxes, new fees, new fines, and new tolls. Is stealing Tom Gear's SUV and leaving him a bike that much of a stretch?
