2 westbound lanes on Berkley Bridge in Norfolk closed tonight

NORFOLK

If you are planning tonight to traverse the Berkley Bridge heading to the Downtown Tunnel, interstates 264 or 464 or the Berkley section of Norfolk and points nearby, you may want to allow some extra time.

Starting at 8 p.m., two center lanes will be closed on the approach to the bridge to allow for emergency repairs of expansion joints, said Luefras Robinson, a spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The work will only affect westbound traffic accessing the bridge from Downtown.

Work is slated to continue to 5 a.m. Thursday. St. Paul Boulevard and City Hall Avenue traffic will also be impacted as two center lanes are closed for the repairs.
