Barack Obama got a huge endorsement from a huge man when Portland's Greg Oden backed the presidential hopeful in his blog. The Senator, possibly courting a vote or looking to jump up in the polls, met with the center, swaying the 7-footer. It's no slam dunk that Obama will receive his party's nomination, but if he wins the election, he'll be a trailblazer, too.
Butting in
Pardon the infuriation: Tony Kornheiser blew up at bloggers recently, referring to them as "pimples on the behind of the greater body politic in this country." The reason for the rant: jealousy rearing its ugly, bald head. Kornheiser thought he had cornered the market on uninformed opinions.
Sounding off
A 9-year-old Australian girl has been banned from her local tennis club for grunting after she hits the ball, emulating her hero, Maria Sharapova. Seems she couldn't keep that racket down.
Racing stripes
Adidas is looking to expand its presence and visibility in NASCAR. Talk about canvassing the area. Guess we can expect the ClimaCooldown lap.
His bread and butter
When he's not spreading the floor with his smooth shooting, Kyle Korver is spreading peanut butter and jelly. Korver estimates he eats 25-30 PB&J sandwiches per week and considering he salary is $4.5 million this season, his pantry must be packed with Peter Pan, saturated with Smuckers. Not much of a dunker, it's the Jazz forward's own version of a jam session.
No Love
Trouble Bruin: UCLA's Kevin Love received multiple death threats from Oregon fans on his phone prior to a January game in Eugene. Even a hoarse hunter wouldn't make Duck calls that horrible.
Pack it in
It's time again for Green Bay's favorite charade: Will Brett Favre continue to be the starting QB or transition to an armchair quarterback? These last few year, he's been shuffling his feet more off the field than on it. After football, Favre should consider taking up tennis - he's got a great return game going.
Online poll
Gumming up the works: The CEO of the Tribune Company said he's considering selling the naming rights to Wrigley Field. Is this a good idea?
- Yes, anything for a wad of money.
- No, it won't stick.
