The case against a Great Bridge High School assistant principal charged with killing his wife was moved to Bedford County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on Monday.
Wesley Earnest, 37, is charged with first-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the death of Jocelyn Earnest, 38.
She was found dead in her Forest home on Dec. 20. She had been shot in the head.
Jocelyn Earnest filed for divorce in 2006 after 11 years of marriage, but the divorce was never finalized. The murder case was moved to family court because the couple was married at the time of her death.
Wesley Earnest has hired Lynchburg attorney Joseph A. Sanzone to represent him.
A preliminary hearing is set for April. A bond hearing has not been set.
Earnest was arrested Feb. 27 in Rustburg and is in jail in Bedford County. Chesapeake Public Schools suspended Earnest without pay when he was charged.
