CHESAPEAKE

Twelve faith communities in Hampton Roads plan to hold a peace walk on April 5.

The walk will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at Unity Renaissance, a church at 1120 Eden Way, according to a news release. A potluck will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Spiritual sharing will follow the lunch and the walk will wrap up the event.

Participants will walk about 1.5 miles along Greenbrier Parkway to City Park where a ceremony will be held, the release says. The groups will carry signs and banners. Participants are being encouraged to bring signs and banners that promote peace and unity or have messages focused on spirituality.

Several groups and faiths will be represented, including, Baha’i; Christ Unity Oceanside; Guru Nanak Foundation of Tidewater; Hindu Temple and Community Center of Hampton Roads; Islamic Center of Tidewater; Living Waters, a Progressive Universal Christian Community; Norfolk Catholic Worker; Soka Gakkai International(SGI); Swadhyay Parivar; Unitarians; Veterans for Peace; Virginia Beach Friends Meeting; and Wicca.

To RSVP or to get more information, call Dorene Lake at Unity Renaissance at (818) 271-1487 (preferred) or (757) 490-6446.

Peace

You need to learn to read the bible instead of interprting it blindly! The bible may say the only way to heaven is through your one god but it also says that you must love the people and hate the sin! Wake up and smell the roses! Your God, as well as my Gods and Goddesses, preachs peace! And you are wrong about there will never be peace as long as there are people like me! There will never be peace as long as there are people like you who hate just because.

There will never be peace.

There will never be peace as long as they assocate themselves with the Christ rejecting religions listed in the article. Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation and those who reject Him and follow false religions will never enter the kingdom of God and are also God's enemies.
