Two weeks after he was shot, a 37-year-old man has died, turning what had been a robbery probe into a murder investigation.

Harold O. Eley, a police spokesman, said William Morrison of the 600 block of 12th Street was shot Feb. 17, about 9:30 p.m., during an attempted robbery in the 2200 block of Jefferson Ave.

The incident occurred in a courtyard of Harbor Apartments where, witnesses said, they had seen Morrison arguing with several men. During the altercation, one of the men pulled out a handgun and shots were fired. Morrison was struck several times.

He was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening wounds. He was pronounced dead at 3:05 a.m. this morning.

Eley said today that investigators have not identified any suspects and that police are asking that anyone with information about the incident or those involved call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (562-5887).
