Sea and Shore Sailors of the Year named

The following local sailors were awarded the 2008 Sea and Shore Sailors of the Year for their commands.

 

Naval Air Force Atlantic

Aviation Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Brian Lewis was chosen as the Sea Sailor of the Year. Lewis is assigned to the carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower, stationed in Norfolk.

 

Submarine Force Atlantic

Electronics Technician 2nd Class Kevin Tweet, stationed in Norfolk, was the Junior Shore Sailor of the Year.

 

Naval Expeditionary Combat Command

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician 1st Class (EWS) Tyrone Logan of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 2, Norfolk, is the Sea Sailor of the Year. He is currently deployed to Iraq.

Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Roona Jackson from the Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center, Norfolk, is Shore Sailor of the Year.

Naval Expeditionary Combat Command's Reserve Sailor of the Year is Builder 1st Class Estephan Garcia from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 28.

 

Naval Surface Force Atlantic

Petty Officer 1st Class Louis Wilson, stationed on the amphibious assault ship Iwo Jima, is the 2008 Sea Sailor of the Year.

Petty Officer 1st Class Jennifer Hauber-Capili, stationed Afloat Training Group, Norfolk, was the Shore Sailor of the Year.
