Third-period rally can't rescue Admirals

Posted to: Admirals Sports

Mike Iggulden had a hat trick and Worcester withstood a Norfolk rally to claim a 5-4 victory Sunday at the DCU Center in Worcester, Mass., handing the shorthanded Admirals their fourth straight loss.

Norfolk has surrendered at least five goals in all four losses.

Iggulden helped stake the Sharks to a 5-1 lead through 40 minutes. The Admirals dominated the third period, using a Bracken Kearns shorthanded goal and an Adam Henrich tally to pull within two.

With 33 seconds left, Blair Jones scored on a 6-on-4 power play, but the Sharks were able to ride out the final seconds.

Marek Kvapil scored Norfolk's other goal.

The Admirals again were without several key players, most notably forwards Norm Milley (shoulder), Paul Szczechura (groin) and Junior Lessard and defenseman Alexandre Picard (NHL call-ups).

The loss dropped the Admirals to 2-5-0-1 with one game remaining on their season-long nine-game road trip. Worcester and Norfolk meet again at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
