Chesapeake hospital group makes land buy

CHESAPEAKE

Planning for future the growth of the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center, the Chesapeake Hospital Authority purchased 23 acres of land in southern Chesapeake in February for $6.05 million.

The authority bought the land, within the Edinburgh development, from Precon Development Corp., hospital officials announced Tuesday. There are no imminent plans to build on the land, which is zoned for business and office use. The property is about six miles from the city's medical complex on North Battlefield Boulevard.

"This is an important strategic investment that will even better position our independent health care organization to serve the health care needs of the region for years to come," said Christopher Mosley, president and chief executive of Chesapeake Regional.
