Thirty-two students and faculty at Virginia Tech -- a cross-section of campus life -- died on the morning of April 16, 2007, when a mentally deranged gunman entered their dormitory and classrooms and fired at them before turning a handgun on himself. Memorials on the first anniversary of the tragedy are centered around the memories of those who died.

lets go hokies
We are the Hokies. We are Virginia Tech.
today is about the victims, not the gunman...
The two articles I read today in the Va Pilot regarding the remembrances being held to day do not mention the name of the gunman. This is how it should be. Today is about the victims, not the shooter. We all mourn the loss of everything that was taken from the world that day. 32 bright futures cut short, and the unrealized contributions they would have made. I wish for peace for the families and friends of the victims. I pray that it never happens again.
Anniversary
