Missives from Mass: Beach sister, brother text-message trip to see pope

Catherine Kammer of Virginia Beach is among 400 Catholics from the Richmond Diocese attending the Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI today at Nationals Park in Washington.

Kammer, 20, a student at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, is sending text messages about her trip to PilotOnline.com from her cell phone. She is with her brother, Francis Kammer, 22, who is a clerk at the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office.

12:20 p.m.: I feel truly blessed and honored to have been able to sit in that stadium and witness his words and recieve the communion

12:17 p.m.: It truly was an inspiration to be in the presence of his holiness and to hear his words of hope peace and faith

12:16 p.m.: The popes message of hope can not only inspire the hearts of catholics but the hearts of everyone

12:04 p.m.: Now someone from the pilot is about to interview me and another couple

11:59 a.m.: The mass is over now it was so amazing his message and how everything was done with different languages so amazing!

9: 46 a.m.: Mass is starting soon update afterwards :)

9:46 a.m.: The pope just came through around the stadium it was amazing! I may be really high up but it brought tears to my eyes to see him

9:10 a.m.: The college of cardinals are filling in now and they are playing so many pretty songs this is so exciting!

9:07 a.m.: The lines for confession are so long! There are so many people here already!

8:56 a.m.: It is crazy down here! So many venders its amazing what people will sell! There are even some protestors

8:35 a.m.: But the guy driving the metro has mentioned how crowded it is at the green line the train that goes to the stadium ~*Catherine

8:34 a.m.: We are on the metro going to the stadium everything is so fast paced we have only seen two others who r going to the mass

Lines for Confession Are Long

Maybe that's why I didn't win tickets. Mine would be a "lengthy" confession, before I would be allowed to "Go In Peace". I would be in there so long that the people in line behind me would probably throw rocks at me, when I finally reappeared.. It's been quite a while..
