Norfolk Academy coach accused of sexual contact with student

CHESAPEAKE

Chesapeake police on Tuesday arrested a Norfolk Academy coach on an allegation that she had sexual contact with a female student, police said.

Ashley Kristen Samaniego, 23, of Blue Beech Way in Chesapeake, was charged with one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was the JV girls basketball coach at Norfolk Academy, police said today.

She is accused of having sexual contact with a 17-year-old, police said. She was arrested at her house early Tuesday evening.

Samaniego was a part-time assistant coach at the school and no longer works there, the school said in a statement.
