Part of Holland Road in Suffolk closed by wreck

SUFFOLK

Holland Road is closed to all traffic in the 1400 block this afternoon after a wreck brought down utility lines.

Lt. Debbie George, a police spokeswoman, said that a vehicle hit a utility pole about 4:30 p.m. and that it broke in half from the impact, dropping wires into the roadway.

No one in the vehicle was hurt, but police have closed the road in both directions until Dominion Virginia Power crews can arrive and clear the lines from the roadway.

Even after that, normal traffic flow in the area may be restricted into the evening as utility crews repair or replace the pole, George said.

The area that is closed is between the intersection of Holland Road and Lake Cahoon Road, to the east, and the interchange of U.S. 58 and U.S. 13, to the west.
