Posted to: Business

The Virginia Port Authority has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency to increase trade between Morocco and the port of Hampton Roads, the authority announced Wednesday.

Tangier "is a growing port facility on the important and rapidly growing" Suez Canal trade lane, said Jerry A. Bridges, the authority's executive director, in a statement. The Port Authority has similar agreements with the Suez Canal Authority, the Xiamen Port Authority in China and the Panama Canal Authority.
