Portsmouth school bus crash sends four to hospital

PORTSMOUTH

A crash involving a school bus sent four people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

No children were hurt, according to fire department spokesman Capt. Paul Hoyle.

The crash happened between 5 and 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Greenwood Drive and Stratford Street and involved a Portsmouth school bus, an SUV and a sedan, Hoyle said. The sedan was caught between the bus and the SUV, he said. Two adults on the bus, the driver of the SUV and the driver of the sedan were taken to hospitals, Hoyle said. He did not know their conditions. One person had to be extricated from a vehicle and transported by air.

There was one child on board the bus, and a 4 -year-old was a passenger in the sedan, Hoyle said. No other details were available.
