Tides can't hold early lead, lose second straight road game

Tides pitcher Hayden Penn surrendered five runs and seven hits in seven innings Wednesday as Norfolk dropped its second straight game, a 5-2 loss to the Charlotte Knights in Fort Mills, S.C.

The Tides (11-14) scored both of their runs in the top of the first. T he Knights broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth on a two-run homer by Jerry Owens, 1 of 3 home runs yielded by Penn (1-2, 5.70 ERA). Luis Terrero hit his second homer of the season for Norfolk.

The Tides, who finished 3-3 on their trip, begin an eight-game home-stand today.
