Tides rough up familiar face against Charlotte

Norfolk scored seven runs against former Tides pitcher Rob Bell in the sixth inning Monday night to earn a 10-5 victory against Charlotte in Fort Mill, S.C.

Bell (1-3), who went 4-3 with a 2.97 ERA in 10 starts for Norfolk last season, entered in relief of Jack Egbert for Charlotte (10-12) with the score tied at 1. Norfolk (11-12) greeted him with a walk, five singles and a double for an 8-1 lead.

Norfolk's Oscar Salazar added a two-run homer - his third of the season - in the eighth; Scott Moore, who went 3 for 3 with two walks, had a solo shot in the second. Jon Leicester (1-1) earned the win by going six innings, surrendering six hits and three runs - two earned.

The teams meet again at 11:15 a.m. today. Norfolk righthander Radhames Liz (0-2, 5.82) is slated to face Charlotte righty Lance Broadway (3-1, 1.29).
