A tree-ring analysis of oak and pine timbers from Lynnhaven House have confirmed the results of an earlier study that dated the house to around 1724.
Samples of oak from the cellar indicated that the trees were cut between the winter of 1722-23 and the winter of 1724-25. Samples of pine from the roof supports dated to the winter of 1724-25.
Researchers from Oxford Dendrochronology Laboratory said the results will help pinpoint the construction dates of other old buildings in the region.
