VIRGINIA BEACH

School Board member Lyndon Remias is planning to step down from his elected post to accept a job as internal auditor for the city.

The Virginia Beach City Council will vote on Remias’ appointment on Tuesday, said Councilman Jim Wood.

Remias will start work on May 15, Wood said. Remias said he would leave the board May 14.

“I really enjoyed being on the School Board,” said Remias, who wanted to do both. However, City Council members felt there could be a perceived conflict of interest.

“I can still be able to have an impact on the citizens as an internal auditor, just not directly on the educational process,” he said.

Remias will earn a salary of $96,000, with a $6,000 car allowance.

Lyndon Remias to Step Down

Lyndon is the perfect choice as city auditor. Sorry to see someone who worked so hard to win a seat on the school board have to step down. Lyndon being a family man really wanted to foster change in the school system. The way he decided to do this was by sitting on the board that made the decisions. Through hard work and dedication he won a seat. Now the city will gain a great auditor but lose a voice on the school board. Good luck in the new position keep the city honest
