Water main break closes N.C. school today and Tuesday

WINDSOR, N.C.

Bertie High School will be closed again Tuesday while crews work to repair a water main break that shut down the school today.

On Saturday, a water main break was discovered outside the school building. The break reduced water pressure throughout the school, said Brent Todd, Bertie County Schools spokesman. As a result, the high school was closed today.

The schools superintendent met with engineers and contractors today and decided on a temporary solution that could put students and faculty back in the school on Wednesday. Following the end of the school year on June 10, a more permanent solution will be determined, Todd said.

Make-up days for the students have not yet been scheduled.
