Go on safari ... at Virginia Zoo

With nearly 400 animals, the zoo offers a journey around the world without leaving town. Look for giraffes, zebras, lions, tigers and even child-friendly barnyard animals. Enjoy a picnic in the lush park.

Smell the roses ... at Norfolk Botanical

Put on your walking shoes to see the camellias, azaleas and huge variety of other plants at Norfolk Botanical Garden. The Bristow Butterfly Garden has more than 30 species of butterflies. Climb the NATO tower to observe more than 95 species of birds.

Go world class ... at the Chrysler Museum

You'll have a hard time taking it all in at The Chrysler Museum of Art. Its 55 galleries hold more than 30,000 works. Along with paintings and sculptures, don't miss the world-renowned glass collection, featuring Tiffany blown glass and lamps.

Come aboard ... the Battleship Wisconsin

You can't miss the "boat" in downtown Norfolk. Walk the worn decks of the USS Wisconsin, check out the 16-inch guns that played a decisive role in the Pacific during WWII and the Korean War, and hear veteran guides share tales from the sea.

Salute a hero ... at MacArthur Memorial

You've probably heard, "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away." That quotes from Gen. Douglas MacArthur, a five-star general whose life and service are traced in nine galleries. Both he and his wife are interred there. Start your tour in the theater.
