An $8-million renovation in 1999 upgraded the terrain from a flat surface into an undulating golfer’s paradise. With its improved sight lines and playability, it is a local favorite. In Scottish slang, Bide-A-Wee means “stay a while.”

Be a sport ... at the Hall of Fame

Test your skill at basketball, baseball, football, soccer, and auto racing at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Its displays honor 208 Virginia athletes, including 46 National Hall of Famers. Great moments in sports are plentiful here.

Take refuge ...at Hoffler Creek

Just minutes from the bustle of downtown, Hoffler Creek Wildlife Preserve is the place for nature lovers. It’s home to white-tailed deer, river otters, and bullfrogs. There are four interpretive trails, and golf carts are available for the physically-challenged.

See the stars ... at Children's Museum

This is a hands-on place. See the stars, get trapped in a giant soap bubble, and operate a construction crane at The Children’s Museum of Virginia. There’s plenty here to grab a kid’s attention, whether it’s the Tot Lot for Toddlers or displays on sound waves.
