Be a beachcomber ... on the ocean or bay.
With 38 miles of shoreline, Virginia Beach has plenty of area to explore. Hunt for seashells or driftwood, simply enjoy the scenery or jump into the Atlantic or the Chesapeake. There’s something for everyone: from dolphin-watching to people-watching. And don't miss the beautiful sunsets.
Go fly a kite ... at Mount Trashmore
The name may not sound so inviting, but this place is fun. Created by compacting layers of solid waste and clean soil, Mount Trashmore reaches 60 feet high. It’s ideal for kite flying. Other activities range from fishing to volleyball to skateboarding. Children will love Kids Cove.

Get fit … on a trail
Whether you bike, hike, ride, walk or jog, Virginia Beach has trails for you. The Oceanfront Boardwalk Trail, which parallels the beach, is about 2 ½ miles long and is the perfect route for people watching. At Rudee Inlet, watch a variety of boats go by.
Get contemporary … at the art center
At the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia, changing exhibits make things continually new. It’s the place to see painting, sculpture, photography, glass and more by international, national and local artists.
