The Beazley Foundation has awarded a $125,000 grant to the YMCA of South Hampton Roads in Norfolk for regional summer day camps.

The award was the largest of 14 grants totaling about $527,000 approved by the foundation's board during a recent quarterly meeting.

The gifts included about $61,000 to the Jones Institute for medical equipment and $50,000 grants to the Chesapeake Bay Academy in Virginia Beach and the Holiday House of Portsmouth.

The Portsmouth-based foundation was established 60 years ago by the late philanthropist Fred W. Beazley and his family.
